Brian Dunkin is a highly respected figure in the AFL Ontario community, known for his remarkable contributions as an umpire. His dedication to the sport is reflected in his extensive umpiring career, where he has officiated over 350 games, including numerous Grand Finals across different divisions.

Brian’s umpiring career in OAFL/AFL Ontario includes officiating Division 1 Grand Finals in 2000, 2001, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2011, totalling seven games. He also umpired Division 2 Grand Finals in 2013, 2014, and 2015, and Women’s Grand Finals in 2015, 2016, and 2019, bringing his total Grand Finals officiated to 13. His expertise and fair play have earned him respect and recognition within the AFL Ontario community.

Beyond his on-field contributions, Brian has played a significant role in the administrative side of the sport. He served as the Director of Umpiring from 2001 to 2004, 2007 to 2011, and again in 2013. His leadership in these roles has been instrumental in maintaining high standards and fostering the development of umpiring within the league.

Brian’s outstanding contributions have been acknowledged with multiple awards, including being named OAFL/AFL Ontario Umpire of the Year in 2011 and 2018.
