Mark ‘Flash’ Block is a prominent figure in the AFL Ontario community, known for his extensive contributions both as a player and a coach. His career with the Toronto Panthers/Eagles spanned from 1990 to 2009, during which he played 154 games and scored 126 goals. His on-field success is highlighted by his involvement in eight premiership-winning teams in 1990, 1991, 1995-1999, and 2002.

Mark’s influence extended beyond his playing career into coaching, where he served as the coach of the Toronto Panthers/Eagles from 1997 to 1999 and 2003 to 2008. Under his leadership, the team played 139 games, achieving 108 wins and 31 losses. His coaching prowess also saw him take on roles with the All Ontario Team as an assistant coach in 2003 and head coach in 2004.

Mark’s contributions to the national team include captaining Team Canada Northwind in the Atlantic Alliance Cup in 2001 and for the International Cup in 2002, participating in a total of 10 games. Additionally, he led Team Canada Northwind as head coach from 2006 to 2009.

His exceptional performance and leadership have earned him numerous awards and honours, including CAFA Rookie of the Year in 1990, CAFA MVP in 1990 and 1993, and Toronto Panthers/Eagles Best & Fairest in 1990, 1992, and 1993. He also served as the club captain from 1991 to 1994.
